Gaddafi's bloodied shirt, ring up for sale

Zimbabwe Star (IANS) Friday 3rd February, 2012

Former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi's wedding ring and the shirt he wore when he was killed by rebels last October have been put up for sale for $2 million, Daily Mail reported Friday.

The disgraced dictator was wearing the silver ring and bloodied beige shirt when he was dragged from a drainpipe near his home town of Sirte before being beaten and shot.

Libyan national Ahmed Warfali is apparently asking for $2 million for the items which somehow came into his possession. He believes he could have attracted a higher value if he had been selling them in Europe.

A picture of what appears to be the ring has been uploaded to website ArabsToday.net and shows an engraving representing the date Gaddafi married his wife, Safia, on Sep 10, 1970, it was reported on ABC News.

But critics say Warfali should not be selling the Gaddafi items.

"The ring does not belong to Gaddafi. It's Libyan money and this guy should not sell the ring," said one person, who posted his comments on a Facebook wall for residents of the town of Zintan, where Gaddafi's son Saif al-Islam is being held, the newspaper said.

Saif was arrested in November, but has not yet been handed over to the transitional government or the International Criminal Court for trial.

Four days ago marked two decades since Ratko Mladic became the commander of the main staff of the army of Republika Srpska - the VRS. On that day, Mladic began his full participation in a criminal endeavour that was already in progress. On that day, he assumed the mantle of realising through military might the criminal goals of ethnically cleansing much of Bosnia. On that day he commenced his direct involvement in serious international crimes.
