BEIJING, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday met with Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama, who is in Beijing for the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women.
Xi said that this year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of China-Ghana diplomatic ties, and China is ready to work with Ghana to promote the upgrading of cooperation in various fields and make greater contributions to building an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future for the new era.
He noted that China is willing to enhance political mutual trust with Ghana and support each other on issues concerning their respective core interests and major concerns.
Xi called on the two sides to jointly implement the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in 2024, explore diversified cooperation models, expand cooperation in various fields, including mining, energy, infrastructure construction, agriculture and fisheries, and help Ghana turn its resource advantages into development momentum.
Xi expressed hope that Ghana will benefit from China's zero-tariff treatment for 100 percent tariff lines for African countries with which it has diplomatic relations at an early date.
Mahama congratulated China on the successful hosting of the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women, saying that it was of great significance and demonstrated China's leadership in advancing women's development worldwide.
He said that Ghana firmly adheres to the one-China policy and is committed to deepening its ties with China. He expressed hope that Ghana will strengthen cooperation with China in trade, digital economy, infrastructure construction, energy, mining and cultural and people-to-people exchanges.
Mahama added that Ghana firmly upholds multilateralism, practices the Global Governance Initiative, and is committed to safeguarding international fairness and justice.
